I think the US Constitution (specifically the 14th Amendment) needs to be amended to address people who illegally immigrate to the US (and its territories) to attain citizenship for their children.
Parts of the 14th Amendment were set into place to make it so former slaves, after the Civil War, became citizens. As we no longer have slavery, I feel that the portion stating that those born in the US of Citizens of the United State (born or naturalized) are recognized as citizens of the United States. Beating a border and being born here because of a crime should not result in the HONOR of being a United States Citizen.
Being a citizen of the United States DOES make you an American. Being an American does not make you a citizen of the United States.
