A good primer for learning the old-time skills that made America great get "Back to Basics - How to Learn & Enjoy Traditional American Skills" by Reader's Digest (originally published in 1981). Some online used book stores have it. ISBN # 0-89577-086-5 "LDS Preparedness Manuel" V5.03, January 1st, 2011 “Member Edition” - full of invaluable info even if you are not LDS. Please don't forgo this book simply because you are at odds with a religious group. You can find this online at: www.abysmal.com/LDS/Preparedness/Preparedness.pdfAnother book available online: www.hesperian.org/publications_download.php This site is full of valuable info. The book is also available in book form at Amazon. All for today, got to go watch Glenn God Bless America!!!!

One great book to have is the Red Crosses First Aid Manual and a Copy of a boyscout manual is a great resource.
Many of these books might be attainable from your local library's book sale.
